Bring Out The Big Guns

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be promoting hard rockin’ Glasgow 5 piece Gun in Ayr Town Hall on Friday 1st December. Gun are no strangers to Freckfest having played a memorable ‘stripped back and acoustic’ set in the HAC a couple of years ago to promote their then new album Frantic. Since then, the band have gone on to record Favourite Pleasures, their 7th studio album. Released a few short weeks ago, the LP entered the album charts at number 16, behind other guitar-led new entries that week from the likes of Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age.

The band was keen to include an Ayrshire date ahead of a short tour that takes in the Barrowlands as well as dates in Manchester and London. Turning to Freckfest, we were only too happy to help out. Ayr Town Hall has the perfect standing capacity for this show. It’s large enough for the expected crowd, yet intimate enough to keep things special.

Gun has a strong following around the world. They’ve toured and shared stages with some of the biggest names in music, including the Rolling Stones and Lynyrd Skynrd. They’ve worked with some of the most well-respected producers in rock, including Kenny MacDonald and Chris Sheldon. They’ve also tasted bona fide chart success, most notably in 1994 when their cover of Cameo’s ‘Word Up’ peaked at number 8, no mean feat in an era when acts had to sell serious amounts of records for even the lowliest of chart placings. To have the pleasure of being asked to put on another Gun show is something we’re very proud of. We’re very much looking forward to the show itself.
