Off The Freckord (Fri 20th Feb 2015)

Posted on Thursday 19th February 2015 00:00 by FreckFest

Root-toot-toot! Fanfares and drum rolls please! Our big news this week is that the hard work we’ve put in for the past two years hasn’t gone un-noticed. Freckfest has been nominated for a Cultural award in the annual North Ayrshire Council Provost’s Civic Pride awards. This is a terrific accolade and worthy recognition for all the volunteers and committee members who have helped re-energise a flagging local music scene. If you’ve been to any of our shows you’ll know just how great they are. Over the past year we’ve attracted a fantastic pot pourri of musical talent to Irvine and there will be plenty more to come in the months ahead. We’d like to ask each and every one of you to take less than a minute of your time to vote for us at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/3DHQTKW  Your vote means a lot to us. Thanks in advance.

We’ve just about finalised the first few months of Freckfest Fridays at the HAC.

Friday 10th April sees JJ Gilmour make a welcome return to the HAC. The wee theatre has become something of a spiritual home to Jinky recently. He loves playing there and always attracts a full house. His mix of top-class songwriting with razor-sharp wit is not to be missed. Tickets for this are on sale now and we’d recommend you don’t dilly dally over your decision to go.

On 8th May, we are delighted to announce we’ll have Grahame Skinner at the HAC. Skin is the former vocalist with 80s sensations Hipsway, a Glaswegian act who managed to sell in excess of half a million copies of their debut LP and found chart success with their single The Honeythief. Skin has recently taken to the live circuit after an extended absence, so this show is much anticipated. Tickets for this are also now on sale.

It’s shaping up to be a busy few months ahead for Freckfest. Don’t forget, we also have two fund-raising events coming up in the Magnum Theatre. March 13th sees sensational Pink Floyd tribute act MacFloyd stop off as part of their Wish You Were Here tour. A month later (3rd April) top Beatles tribute act Them Beatles bring their much-loved brand of Cavern Club stompers to the same venue.

Freckfest aims to provide something for everyone. We hope to see you at one of our shows.

Tickets for all Freckfest shows are available direct from the HAC or via ticketweb.co.uk
